Birthday Party Fun

Madelyn had her big 3rd birthday party yesterday. I CAN'T believe my baby is almost three years old. Did I mention she starts full time preschool on August 12th (sniff, sniff)? ANYWHO, Aunt A, here are a TON of pictures from the day.

Madelyn insisted on wearing a tutu to the party! This is the headband that came with it, and Aubrey loves it. She really is a lot more into dressing up than Madelyn.

Madelyn got some dress up clothes and Aubrey loved the Snow White outfit. She cried when we took it off!

My LITTLE angel.....

Aubrey went to the doctor for her 15 month check-up on Monday. When they measured her, I was thrilled to learn that she's grown an inch and a half!! Praise the Lord! However, she really has not gained much weight at all. She was 30 inches tall (25th - 50th percentile) and weighs 18 1/2 pounds (1st percentile!!).

I talked to the doctor for a long time about her growth. He feels that because she is growing vertically so well, there is no cause for concern. We're going to keep monitoring her growth over the next few months, but for now we're not too worried!!

Where to start??

Well, a lot has happened over the last few weeks. Most notably, I turned the big 3-0!! I had a FABULOUS birthday thanks to all my sweet family and friends. it started the night before my birthday when Clint took me out to Folks Folly for a delicious, adult dinner! On my birthday I went to work, where everyone had signs up all over the place, a card and tons of food!! We ate dinner with our closest friends, then left for Pickwick with the Thornburgs for the weekend. We had a BLAST!! Madelyn was fearless this year and rode the wave runner with Daddy....




She also wanted to ride on the intertube and would stay on for an hour at a time...



Aubrey warmed up to the boat pretty quickly, and loved to feel the wind blow her hair!

Quick update

This is a picture someone took when we were in Florida for Amanda's wedding, and I just thought it was cute :) Thanks, Brooklyn!

Also, I had to share what Madelyn said tonight. We were at Nana's house and mom was asking what to get Madelyn for her birthday. So I said, "Madelyn, what do you want for your birthday?" She quickly answered, just as if she had all ready given it a lot of thought, "Um, roller skates, a computer and a new couch!" WHAT???

I'll post more later. Now, off to bed!

Whirlwind.....

That's what these last few weeks have been. I can really tell it's summertime because we have been super busy. Let's see...over the last few weeks we went to Ben's 9th birthday party...

Oh yeah, and we had a reception at Mom's house for Amanda and Houston and about 75 other people. Unfortunately, I didn't get the camera out the whole night, so I didn't get any pictures.

Madelyn is so fun these days. She is basically potty trained, and only has accidents every few days. She's really learning and thinking all the time. She constantly asks questions. The other day she asked me, "Mommy, why can't I take my toes off?" I wasn't quite sure what to say.

This is what Aubrey does most of the time these days....

She's ALL about Mommy right now. She'll be playing perfectly content, then I walk through the room and she cries for me. It's frustrating, but I try to remember this is only a phase and too soon she'll not want to sit with me. I took her to the doctor yesterday and she has a sinus/double ear/upper respiratory infection. The doctor is also concerned (as I have been for MONTHS) that Aubrey isn't growing like she should. In fact, we realized that she has only gained 10 ounces since her 9 month check-up. SO, I'm going to try a few things to fatten her up and the doc wants to see her again in a few weeks. I feel a little relieved that finally someone is listening to me. I've gotten so tired of people telling me, "Oh, she's just little!!" Hopefully they'll figure out something and she can grow a little.

We're leaving Thursday (which, by the way is my 30th birthday!!!!) for Pickwick for the weekend. Last week was a really rough week for me, so I'm super excited for some R&R. I'll try to post some pics when we get back!
