Frustrations....

When we first got married and Clint would go play golf, it would take about 3 hours for 18 holes. As we've been married longer and now have 2 kids, the same 18 holes now take 6 hours to play. Coincidence? I think not.

Firsts

We've had several firsts this week that are worth mentioning. Last Saturday night, Madelyn had her first sleepover. Her cousin Izzy spent the night. We had a blast!! The girls pulled out every toy that Madelyn owns and played with every one of them. They went to bed at 8:30 and I didn't hear a peep out of them. When I checked on them at 9:00, they were laying side by side, and Izzy had her arm around Madelyn - PRECIOUS!!

Sunday morning we woke up and made cinnamon rolls then went to the park to slide and swing. We came home and woke Clint up, then picked up some Wendy's and took it to Izzy's house. We all ate before coming home to an extended nap time!! Both girls wore each other out. Hopefully, this was the first of many sleepvers to come.

Today we went to the hospital for our first meeting of Nash Anthony Salvaggio!!!! He was born yesterday afternoon and weighed in at 8 pounds, 13 ounces and 21 inches long. He is absolutley beautiful and he and Mommy are doing well!

Another first today - Aubrey had her first taste of cereal. We really weren't sure how she would take to it, but she LOVED it!! You can see her even reaching for the bowl because I wasn't giving it to her fast enough. At least we know she was ready!! She ate 2 bowls of the stuff. Hopefully in another couple of weeks I can start making her "real" food.

Tomorrow Clint is playing golf all day with Ray, so we're hoping Emily and Mason will come over. If so I should have some good pics later....

I'll leave you with some random pics from bedtime tonight. Aubrey is really loving being on her tummy, and puches up on her arms and pulls those knees underneath her. Also, as you can see Madelyn's hair is out of control!! She has no natural part in her hair, so unless it's up it's on her face. Any suggestions of what to do about that are welcome!!

Rants

I haven't been feeling well so I took off work today to relax. Since I slept the day away, I'm not tired now, so decided to write a long post about just anything. Some of my friends have done so recently, and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading them. Here goes......

1. I realized I'm old. Over the last week I concluded that I no longer enjoy "partying" (unless my daughter's 2 year birthday party counts); I watched the MTV VMA awards, and had NO idea who 75% of the people were - nor did I care; I drove past a high school as it was letting out and my jaw dropped at the clothes the teenagers were wearing. SO, I"m not going to lie about it anymore - I"m just an old Mommy who is tired of pretending I still think it's cool to go out on the weekends. I'd rather be in bed by 10:00, regardless of the day of the week. There - I said it.

2. I loathe Wal-Mart. Sorry Erin, I just read your friend's rant about it and I agreed with every word. I would much rather spend a few more dollars than enter the doors of Wally World - call me a snob or not.

3. Having said the above - I would love to go back in time a few years for a week or so. I recently found a mixed cd titled "Erin and Summer Jazz Fest 2001" and it brought back great memories - a time when money was just for spending on whatever I wanted, my only responsibility was college classes, and I still enjoyed drinking until I passed out. Good times - but I probably wouldn't last 8 hours without my kids.

4. Aubrey is only 5 months old but I all ready can't remember life before she was born. I'm often overwhelmed by the responsibility I feel for these 2 perfect girls. How can Clint and I raise them to be responsible, loving people?? I worry about their future school, their self image, their happiness and their overall well being. I would gladly give up everything I have to only know that they'll always be safe, healthy and happy.

5. I worry too much. Clint asked me a month or two ago, "What happened to you?? You used to be so laid back" I think about that comment everyday, and he's right. When did I wake up and become this boring, worrier?? I'm trying really hard to get away from that.

6. I can't imagine life without my husband. He may drive me crazy like no one else can, but I wake up everyday and love him a little more than I did the day before. He's the only one in the world who can always make me laugh, and my best friend. He's an amazing Dad and the girls adore him.

7. Aubrey started "talking" last week. She says Da da da da over and over again. When she first did it Madelyn cried and said "No Sissy, say Ma ma!!"

8. I've decided that Madelyn must, for sure, be a genius!! I'm sure every parent thinks their child is smart, but she never ceases to amaze me.

9. I wish my Dad had met the girls. Although it's been over 3 years since he's passed away, I think about and miss him every day. I often laugh out loud thinking of something he told me, or think that I can't wait to tell him something funny Madelyn said. I wonder if I'll ever stop that.

10. My mom is the most amazing woman in the world.

11. I've really been thinking a lot lately about going back to school. I'd love to become a college professor. But I don't even have time to take a 30 minute walk in the evening, how could I ever find time to go back to school??

12. I keep praying that one day Clint will get a day shift. I hate being without him in the evenings. Some people joke that we have found the key to a happy marriage, since we don't see each other but 30 minutes 5 days a week. I can't imagine what it must be like to come home and have someone help you with the kids.

13. We've decided that we're done having children. I feel so blessed with the 2 that we have now, I can't imagine making anymore changes to our family.

14. I am a total slacker with picture of the kids. Kelly called me last week and told me I forgot to give her my most recent picture I've had taken of Madelyn because the latest one she had was from last Christmas. When I told her that was the last one I'd had done, she lectured me. I think I'll take them next weekend....

15. Last night I told Emily something and she said "You're shitting me!!!" I'm still laughing about that one!

16. Although I have several friends, I don't make enough of an effort to see them often. I need to incorporate more time for friends!! It's gotten down to e-mailing everyone and reading blogs to keep current. I used to stay on the phone with my girlfriends until the wee hours of the morning. Now we're too busy for a 10 minute weekly phone call.

17. I miss my sister-in-law. In fact, we miss her so much that Clint and I had a (brief) discussing about moving to East Tennessee. We decided we couldn't leave my family. I wonder if Amanda's booked a wedding date yet??????

18. If she gets married in early May, that gives me 8 months to lost all the weight I want to lose. I've lost 7 pounds the last 2 weeks.

19. If I keep up that momentum, I'd lose 14 pounds a month, so I would lose 30 pounds by the time of our trip. That'd be awesome - but impossible!!

20. I can't imagine a week away with just Clint. Although I'll miss the girls terribly, I think we need it.

21. My other sister-in-law, Kelly, is probably the most generous and thoughtful person I know. She's offered numerous times to watch the girls while we're in Mexico, even though she has 3 kids of her own. In fact, my brother and nephew are in Knoxville tonight because she surprised them with tickets to the UT / Florida game. She's a far nicer wife that I am!!

22. Clint keeps telling me he needs to get his motorcycle endorsement on his license because he's getting a motorcycle for his birthday. Who is he kidding???

23. I wonder if our kids and all our friends' kids will grow up friends? Or will they be like, "Oh Mom, we have to go to their house again??? "

24. It's almost midnight and I'm not even remotely tired. This is why I no longer take naps.

25. We bought cereal for Aubrey today. It makes me a little sad to think we're starting her on food. Clint says I"m weird.

26. We're thinking about replacing the carpet in the house. We realize that with the housing market and economy in their current condition, we probably won't be moving for a while. I wonder how much the new carpet would cost?

27. The Directv receiver in our bedroom went out last week. It's kind of nice with no tv in here. I think we'll buy a hd receiver for the den and bring that receiver in here.

28. I wonder if anyone reads my blog??

29. I still don't really understand the facebook thing. I think it's cool that I can find people, but then what?

30. Kelly and the kids will be here in less than 8 hours. I better try to get some sleep, or I"ll be hurting tomorrow......

31. Clint is totally oblivious to anything involving our finances.

32. When we first got married Clint didn't know what it meant to balance a checkbook.

33. I don't pay as much attention as I should to politics. I just can't seem to get into it.

34. Do I have to have my actual voters registration card to vote?? I should probably check on that, since I lost it years ago.

35. I wonder where we'll take the kids trick-or-treating this year.

36. When am I supposed to take Madelyn to the dentist for the first time? She seems so young. We try to brush her teeth, but she just likes to eat the toothpaste.

37. She seems to be going backwards on the potty training. all of a sudden she doesn't want to use it.

38. She's also calling me ma Ma and CLint da da. I wonder if it's because of Aubrey?

39. Our bedroom is driving me crazy with the half white / half purple walls. Clint HAS to finish the painting this week.

40. I love my new vacuum cleaner.

41. I'm addicted to the Fresh Express new salads. I can't believe Kroger was sold out of them last week. I'll have to try Schnuck's this weekend.

42. I think I'll go get a facial soon.

43. I'm tired. Guess I'll go to sleep....

Game Day!!

FINALLY - UT Football :) YAY!! We all wore the proper attire today to celebrate the season opener.
This weekend was pretty close to perfect. Friday night we just hung out and got to see Aunt A. The girls were in bed by 8:00, and I watched a movie and relaxed. Saturday morning I just hung out with the girls, then at nap time I left to go look at wedding venues while Clitn stayed home with the girls. It was nice to have a few hours to hang out and not have to worry about the girls. When I got home, we put the girls to bed then Mom stayed over while Clint and I met his mom, dad, aunt and uncle in Tunica. I hadn't been to the casino in over 2 years, so it was something fun and different to do.

Sunday we got up and went to Clint's parents' house where we stayed all day. Clint played golf, while I just hung out. Sunday night was dinner at my aunt's house to celebrate my Grandad's 87th birthday. Madelyn had a ball playing with all her cousins!!

Today we laid low and did lots of things we had put off all weekend - namely cleaning and yard work. The Thornburgs came over tonight for dinner and some football. Here's a pic of Aubrey and Mason!

Well, back to work tomorrow. Madelyn goes back to school in the monring, so we're praying that goes well!!
