In Absentia......

Ok, so I know it's been FOREVER since I've posted!!! But things have been....ABSOULTELY....CRAZY!!!!!

Let's see - I really don't even know where to start.

My new job is going well. I'm getting the hang out all the work I'm doing, and starting to make friends. I realized last week that a good friend of mine works in the building next to mine, so we're even able to meet outside once or twice a day for a break. I had my first "review" with my manager last week, and he told me that he's been impressed with the work I've done, and that I've shown a lot of inatiative. So that's good!! My biggest concern with work is that the last 2 weeks of each month, I'm very slow. SOOOOOO, I have not much at all to work on - a far cry from the last 2 jobs I've had! However, I'm sure as I become more familiar with the way things at FedEx work, I'll be given more projects to work on.

I really don't remember a whole lot about February. I guess it was pretty boring - which is good because it prepared us for March!! I know we had some snow days early in the month, and I had just started my new job so that was most of what I thought about!! Towards the end of the month Clint and I worked on cleaning out the house. We cleaned out closets, bedroom and every single room we could. We packed up a TON of stuff to move to our storage unit and Mom's house. We also dealt with mice in the attic (which we finally got rid of).

March started out well enough. After all the cleaning mentioned above, we finally had our new carpets installed in the whole house the first week of March. It worked out great for me because Clint ook the day off work. It was one of my late days during month-end, so when I got home at 8:00 that night, the house had all new carpet and all teh furniture, etc. was all ready put back into place. We absolutely love the new floors!!!!

The 2nd week in March included a vacation day for me to stay home with Madelyn who was sick. She was running about 102 fever and just feeling awful. Of course, when we took her to the doctor, he didn't see anything wrong, so there was nothing to be done. Luckily she only had to miss one day of school, and I had the vacation time to burn before year end in May.

The next week I had training at work, Dora and Diego were at the Children's Museum, and we celebrated Colton's birthday at our house. Said birthday celebration was a few weeks after his actual 3rd bday, since my girls had stomach bugs and were puking all over the place in late February (oh yeah, forgot to mention that one!!).

On the 21st we went and celebrated Mason's 2nd birthday - Happy Birhtday little man!! The girls had a blast at his Thomas the Train party. Tuesday night was Dads and Dogs night at Christ the King. Madelyn was super excited, as this was the first time she had a night dedicated to her spending time with Daddy. With Clint's new job, he's been working late a couple of nights a week, so it was really fun for them to hang out. They went up to the school for some hot dogs, games and crafts. Aubrey and I enjoyed our little "Girls night". After dinner we went for a long walk collecting flowers, then went home for bath and jammies. When Madelyn got home, Aubrey was so excited to see her. So just before bed time the girls were playing together and being silly. Aubrey decided to try to sneak some oyster crackers into the den (we have a new no food rule on the new carpet), and was climbing the couch with one arm and fell. The fall didn't look bad, so I didn't even get off the couch!! Next thing I know, Clint's telling me he thinks her arm is broken. Sure enough, she won't move her arm at all, and it looks a little bent near her wrist. So off we go to LeBonheur, where the x-rays confirmed that she had broken a bone in her forearm. So I had to take the next day off work and we went to a pediatric orthopedic doctor who set her full arm cast that she wore for 4 weeks. Praise the Lord that it wasn't a bad break!! We've been back to the ortho 3 times all ready. Her bone near her wrist was bent about 10%. he told me he usually doesn't like to do surgery on kids as young as Aubrey unless it's at least a 15% bend, since she's still growing and her bones will heal as they grow. So we've been monitoring that pretty closely. She actually went back last week and was able to get the cast off!!! YAYAYAY!
Friday of that same week we had the guy come and lay the tile in the kitchen. So now all the floors in our house have been replaced and look AWESOME!!! We spent that weekend cleaning up and staying off the kitchen floors.

During the last couple of months I've been trying to take advantage of the gym that I have free access to for work. I've been going a couple of times a week on my lunch break and walking on the tradmill. I've noticed that I was having some cramps on my right side, but thought that perhaps I'd pulled a muscle. Then, the week of Aubrey's break the cramps were getting worse. Well, naturally I was so sidetracked by her, I don't think I even mentioned the pain to Clint. Then on Monday, the 27th the pain got pretty bad. When I was at work I would have what I can only describe as labor pains. My right side would cramp along with lower back pain. it didn't hurt constantly, but when the pain hit it was enough to make me double over. I finally called the doctor on Tuesday and went in. She wanted to rule out something with my appendix, kidneys or ovary. I was there for 3 hours getting tests, and she finally told me that they saw a cyst on my right ovary. She said the radiologist wasn't there yet, but they would call me when he came in. So I came back to work not too worried. Although I've never had an ovarian cyst, several of my friends have and I knew they were nothing to really worry about.

About 2 hours later I get a call from my doctor's offce telling me that they saw a cyst that was causing my right ovary to be about twice the size of my left. She said it could be either a hemorrhagic (bleeding) cyst, or torsion. Torsion is when a cyst causes the ovary to kind of collapse on itself. teh orblem with this is blood supply is cut off to the ovary, causing pain and causing the ovary to eventually die. Because they were uncertain they wanted to call my Ob/GYN to compare the ultrasound to previous ones I'd had. 20 minutes later I get a call from my Ob telling me to come in right away for another ultrasound. I went to their office, and they brought me right in for the ultrasound. Because of where the cyst is placed, they were having a hard time telling if there was any blood flow to my ovary. Meanwhile, the pain of them poking around the cyst was getting worse, and my blookd pressure started dropping. next thing I know they're telling me they need to send me to the hospital and prepare me in case I need to have my pvary removed. Everything was so confusing, and I immediately went into "mother" mode thinking about who was going to get ths kids, etc.

Once at the hospital the confusion only increased. They were admitting me for 24 hour observation. I didn't really understand what they were expecting to happen. I guess if it was in fact torsion, the pain would get worse and they would know - great - something to look forward to!! The good news was the hooked me up to a morphine drip so pain wasn't an issue :) Finally on Wednesday, after 4 more ultrasound and even the chief of radiology at the hospital looking at my scans, they sent me home!!!! Praise the Lord they didn't have to do surgery!

I stayed home the rest of the week and decided to go ahead with Aubrey's 2nd birthday party that weekend. Luckily I had gotten most everything ready ahead of time, and mom came and stayed with us to help. Madelyn had been complaining that her throat hurt, but had no fever and acted fine so we weren't too worried. The party went off really well - thanks to my mom and wonderful husband!!! Sunday was Easter and I felt up to going back to church then we spent a relaxing day at my in-laws' house.

Monday I finally went back to work (after missing 7 days in one month!!!!!!). I was happy to return to "normal" but exhausted when I got home. That night mom called me and sounded terrible. She told me that she got home Sunday (after spending the weekend with us) and had 103 fever. She went to the doctor and had strep throat. And where do you think she got it????? Oh yes, from my beautiful first-born!! So Wednesday night Clint and I took both kids to the pediatrician, where they BOTH tested positive for strep. Luckily, they got on antibiotics and have both seemed to recover pretty quickly.

Needless to say, we're hoping for some boring, relaxing weeks ahead. I have a lot of pics from the last few weeks and I promise to post those soon.

Until next time....
